There are thousands and millions of galaxies in our universe, now a new and largest galaxy has been discovered whose size has surprised astronomers.
The universe is a collection of mysteries, every day some of its mysteries are revealed and the world is exposed to a new world. These discoveries open new doors of knowledge and research for astronomers.
Recently the largest galaxy ever discovered in our astronomical history is the largest galaxy ever discovered in terms of volume and its size has surprised astronomers themselves.
If we look at the astronomical scale for the size of this galaxy, it is 5 megaparsecs, which means that this galaxy is 1.63 million light-years wide from one edge to the other. This is the reason why it is rated as the largest galaxy in the universe.
This newly discovered galaxy has been named Acionius which is a radial galaxy and is located at a distance of three billion light years from us.
Although experts are still investigating it, preliminary information about the galaxy reveals that it is a flattened elliptical and a galaxy whose black hole has a mass some 400 million times that of our Sun.
Scientists agree that there is a supermassive black hole at the center of Alkynius that is active and swallowing material from the periphery. However, some of the remaining material is ejected in the form of ionized plasma sprays, producing radio signals. This is why they are called ‘giant radial galaxies’.
Scientists have collected its data from the Low Frequency Array (LOFAR) located in Europe. Lofar is an extensive network of 20,000 radio antennas spread over 52 locations across Europe. However, its data is filled with signals from other radio objects and is cleaned up on a computer to reveal only the radio galaxy.
In the astronomical world, radiative galaxies themselves are considered a cosmic mystery. Their composition is also interesting because they have a large central galaxy around which a cluster of stars orbits.
