Wangarĩ Maathai was a famous Kenyan political activist and environmental. She was born on April 1, 1940, in Ihithe, Tetu, Kenya. She died on 25 September 2011 at the age of 71 in Nairobi, Kenya. She completed her education at the University of Nairobi (PhD), the University of Pittsburgh (MS), Benedictine College (BS), and the University of Giessen. She is best known for her Green Belt Movement worldwide.
