Pakistan’s Nuclear Scientist Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan has Passed Away.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Mohsin nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan has died at the age of 85.

It has been reported that his condition deteriorated due to a lung ailment last night and he was rushed to the hospital. Despite the desperate efforts of doctors in the ICU, he could not recover. According to his will, funeral prayers were offered at Faisal Mosque.

Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid, while confirming his death, expressed deep sorrow and grief. He said that Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan was the first Pakistani to be awarded the Presidential Award three times. Will be remembered Special Assistant Shahbaz Gul said that every heart is saddened by the death of Dr Abdul Qadir. He practically made Pakistan a defensive power.

Expressing deep sorrow over the demise of Mohsin Pakistan Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, President Arif Alvi said that the Pakistani nation will never forget his services to the country.

He had known Dr. Abdul Qadir personally since 1982. They helped us a lot in promoting nuclear reduction.

Prime Minister Imran Khan also expressed deep sorrow over the death of Dr Khan and said that he was a hero for the Pakistani nation.

Expressing grief over the demise of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that Dr Qadeer had rendered invaluable services for strengthening the defense of Pakistan, may Allah Almighty elevate the ranks of Dr Abdul Qadeer.

The Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and all Service Chiefs also expressed deep regret.

Federal Minister Asad Umar said that Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan played a key role in making Pakistan invincible, may Allah Almighty grant him a high position in Paradise.

Expressing regret, Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry said that the entire nation is saddened by the demise of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, his services to Pakistan are innumerable, may God have mercy on him.

Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan is recognized as the creator of the Pakistani atomic bomb, he is the first Pakistani to receive 3 presidential awards, he was also awarded Hilal Imtiaz. Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan was born in 1936 in Bhopal. He migrated with his family to Pakistan in 1947.

He received his engineering degree in 1967 from the University of the Netherlands. He received his doctorate in metallurgical engineering from the University of Belgium and later joined the Physical Dynamics Research Laboratory in Amsterdam.

After higher education, Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan returned home in 1976 and on May 31 of the same year became part of the Atomic Engineering Research Laboratories of Pakistan. On May 1, 1981, the Engineering Research Laboratory was renamed Dr. AQ Khan Research Laboratories.

After working tirelessly day and night, he accomplished a great feat of making Pakistan a nuclear power by detonating a nuclear bomb in 1998.
