Shoaib Malik’s wife Indian tennis star Sania Mirza announces retirement

LAHORE: Indian tennis star Sania Mirza, sister-in-law of Pakistanis and wife of national team all-rounder Shoaib Malik, has announced her retirement.

According to foreign media reports, announcing her retirement after losing in the first round of the women’s doubles event at the Australian Open, Indian tennis star Sania has said that the year 2022 will be her last season, my fitness is also declining.

Talking to media after the defeat in the match, the tennis star said that the decision to retire was not an easy one but there are some reasons for it. Traveling too much is not good for my 3 year old son and it is very important for me.

“I am preparing for the future, but it is not certain whether I will be able to play the whole season or not. My fitness is also declining and I think my recovery will take a long time,”

she added.

It is to be noted that Sania Mirza has won 6 Grand Slam titles while she has also remained at the top in the doubles rankings of WTA. Sania Mirza is the first Indian player to make it into the top 30 in the WTA singles rankings.

The Indian tennis star is married to Pakistan cricket team all-rounder Shoaib Malik and has a 3-year-old son named Azhan Mirza Malik.
