LAHORE: Leading singer Ali Zafar has backed Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s decision to criminalize hate speech and impose heavy fines as punishment.
Ali Zafar shared the news of the decision regarding the hate speech of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the social networking website Twitter.
On Twitter, he wrote that exactly the same step was needed, it should be implemented here (Pakistan). Hate speech is in direct conflict with the core values of our Charter of Freedom of Expression and Fundamental Rights.
He quoted Attorney General of Canada David Limited as saying that hate speech is a threat to people’s safety and well-being, especially when the target is a vulnerable individual or community, which makes them silent and fearful.
