Islamic Countries Ignored Afghanistan for 20 Years, We will Help: Turkish President

ANKARA: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that Western and Islamic countries have neglected Afghanistan for 20 years but Turkey will do everything possible to help Afghanistan rebuild.

Speaking to media after Friday prayers, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the door to talks was open if the Taliban agreed to talks.

Continuing, he said that for 20 years, Western and Islamic countries have neglected Afghanistan, but Turkey would do everything possible to help rebuild Afghanistan.

He said that

Turkey has so far contributed to the development of Afghanistan’s infrastructure with all its resources and best capabilities and this process will continue in the future as well.

Turkey is hosting more than 300,000 unregistered Afghan refugees.

On the other hand, Taliban spokesman Sohail Shaheen says that Turkey is most needed for the reconstruction of Afghanistan.

“Our entire infrastructure has been destroyed,”

a Taliban spokesman told Turkish media. We will rebuild Afghanistan and rebuild every region. We need Turkey the most in this regard.

“Turkey is very important to us,”

he added. It is a respected and strong global country and has an important place in the Islamic community. Turkish-Afghan relations cannot be compared to any other country.

Earlier, Sohail Shaheen on another pro-Turkish news channel called Turkey a “brotherly Islamic country”. In a conversation on August 16, just a day after the capture of Kabul, he said he wanted good relations with Turkey in the future.
