The nation is celebrating the 50th Martyrdom Day of Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed Nishan Haider.

ISLAMABAD: The nation today is celebrating the 50th martyrdom anniversary of Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed Nishan Haider.

Major Akram Shaheed, while showing courage and bravery in the 1971 war, chewed up the enemy and fell victim to the homeland.

Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed Nishan Haider’s 50th Martyrdom Day, the great story of courage and bravery in the 1971 war of which the nation is still proud. During the war, Major Akram Shaheed displayed great bravery on the East Pakistan front and thwarted major air, artillery and armored attacks of the enemy.

Major Akram along with the soldiers bravely fought the enemy many times bigger than him for 15 days. In the meantime, Major Akram was martyred on December 5, 1971, thwarting enemy attacks on the main supply line of the Pakistan Army.

For telling a new story of bravery and courage, Major Akram Shaheed was awarded the highest honor of Pakistan Army, Nishan Haider.

Major Akram Shaheed graduated from Military College Jhelum and joined the 28th PMA Long Course in March 1961. He passed out in October 1963 and was commissioned in the Frontier Force Regiment.

He was also awarded the title of Best Sniper in his course. Major Muhammad Akram joined the Infantry Battalion on 13 October 1963.

On his excellent record he was promoted to the rank of Major on completion of Military Intelligence Course in September 1970.
