Steve Biko was a famous South African anti-apartheid activist. He was born on 18 December 1946 in Tarkastad, Eastern Cape, South Africa. He died on September 12, 1977, at the age of 30 in Pretoria, South Africa. The main cause of his death was major brain injuries, after being beaten by South African security officers. He is currently resting in Steve Biko Garden of Remembrance, King William’s Town, Eastern Cape. He married to Ntsiki Mashalaba (m. 1970) and was the father of 5 children. He completed his studies at the University of Natal in Medicine.
