Biography
Ayesha Jalal is a famous Pakistani-American historian. She was born in 1956 in Lahore, Pakistan. She married to Sugata Bose. Ayesha is well known for serving as the Mary Richardson Professor of History at Tufts University.
She started early education in her hometown and moved to New York City at the age of 14. She completed her degree of B.A from the Wellesley College, USA. Ayesha completed her doctorate in history in 1983 from Trinity College at the University of Cambridge.
She achieved numerous awards in her life including the MacArthur Fellows Program, Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Star of Excellence), & Award from the President of Pakistan.
She received the honor of “the greatest historian Pakistan has produced.” from Maleeha Lodhi (Pakistani ambassador to the UN) in April 2016 and “one of Pakistan’s most acclaimed historians” from The Hindu newspaper in India. A Pakistani Media Agency “The Express Tribune” states that “Jalal is revered globally as a historian of meticulous methods.”
